Circle ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). By using Circle, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Important: Circle is an educational tool based on personality psychology research. It provides insights into relationship dynamics through a 20-question assessment framework. Circle does not provide medical, psychiatric, or professional mental health advice.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Information
We collect the following personal information:
- Email Address: Used for account creation and authentication
- Display Name: Optional name you provide for your profile
1.2 Relationship Assessment Data
When you use our personality assessment features, we collect:
- Names or identifiers you assign to people in your relationships
- Relationship categories (Work, Dating, Family, Friends)
- Your answers to assessment questions
- Generated personality type results
- AI-generated suggestions and relationship insights
- Optional notes or observations about relationships
- Optional photos you upload
1.3 Automatically Collected Information
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers
- Usage Data: Features used, interactions, timestamps
- Crash Reports: Technical data when the app crashes (via Firebase Crashlytics)
1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Precise location data
- Contact lists from your device
- Microphone or camera access (except when you choose to upload photos)
- Health or medical information
- Financial or payment information (handled by App Store/Play Store)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:

Circle uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized suggestions and insights. When you use AI features:
- Your assessment data is processed by AI models to generate suggestions
- AI suggestions are generated based on personality patterns and relationship dynamics
- All AI processing is done securely, and your data is not used to train AI models
- AI suggestions are for educational purposes only and should not replace professional advice

3. Data Storage & Security
3.1 How We Store Your Data
All user data is stored securely using Google Firebase, a trusted cloud platform that provides enterprise-level security. Your data is:
- Encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL protocols
- Encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
- Stored in secure data centers with physical security controls
- Protected by Firebase Authentication security rules
3.2 Data Location
Your data is stored on Firebase servers located in the United States. By using Circle, you consent to the transfer of your data to the US.
3.3 Data Retention
- Account data: Until you delete your account
- Assessment data: Until you delete specific assessments or your account
- Usage analytics: Aggregated data retained for up to 26 months
- Backup data: Retained for up to 30 days after account deletion
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
4.1 Service Providers
We use trusted third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting
- OpenAI: AI-powered analysis and suggestion generation (your data is not used for model training)
- RevenueCat: In-app purchase management
4.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request.
4.3 Business Transfers
If Circle is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new entity. We will notify you before your information is transferred.

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you

- Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data

6. How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the Circle app:
- Open the Circle app
- Navigate to the Settings page
- Scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete Account"
- Enter your password to confirm your identity
- Review the list of data that will be deleted
- Confirm your decision in the final confirmation dialog
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data will be permanently deleted:
- Your profile information (email, display name, profile photo)
- All people you've added to your Circle
- All personality assessments and analysis results
- AI-generated suggestions and insights
- Photos you've uploaded
- Notes and observations
- Purchased analysis packages and transaction history
Alternative: Request Deletion via Email
If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing us at hello@knowyourpeople.app from the email address associated with your account. We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 30 days.
Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data will be removed from our servers within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Circle is intended for users aged 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
Circle operates globally and your data may be transferred to and stored in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States.
For European Union Users: We comply with GDPR requirements and use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for international data transfers.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top
- Sending an in-app notification or email for material changes
